5770 New Year Celebrations
Rosh Hashanah is always an exciting holiday, and it couldn't be different this year.
Held again at Apothikes Hall situated at the heart of Larnaca Old Town, the event was a tremendous success, with over than 200 people from the community and tourists attending.
Even though pictures are not allowed on Rosh Hashanah, our good friend and photographer Marcos Gittis worked hard a few minutes before the Holiday came in and registered everything on his camera.
That's definetely a great begginning for a Happy & Sweet 5770!

Last Stages (June 09)
Our Centre is passing through a couple of renovations before Passover. The vision is to make the Centre even more confortable and suitable to our activities.
As we all know, the renovations are always good, but also an "expensive" investment, and we need your support to continue and make our Centre better.

Fantastic.
This is the only word I could find to describe the 2009 Ladies Evening.
Focusing on "Marriage as an ideal" Rebbetzin Sheindel Raskin held the attention of the pleased public with her speech, followed by the renowned graphologist Mrs. Sarah Bluestein who awakened the interest of every mother to know a little bit more about her kids through their handwriting analysis.
The interactive and social evening was accompanied by a delicious buffet by Chef Nissim Nahmias, who surprises us every year again and again with his “golden hands”.

The Festival of Freedom
The festival of Freedom is always one of the most expected holidays during the year.
This year it was celebrated at the already know and approved Apothikes Hall in Larnaca.
Nearly 250 community members and guests attended to both English and Hebrew Sedarim.
The biggest excitement was to hear the entire hall singing the Ma Nishtana song together, no matter their nationalities and mother language.
The Freedom was definetely felt in Cyprus this year.
This year it was celebrated at the already know and approved Apothikes Hall in Larnaca.
Nearly 250 community members and guests attended to both English and Hebrew Sedarim.

Pre-Passover Program
As every year, the children of the Cyprus Jewish Community have experienced a unique and amazing activity, the Matzah Bakery.
Part of the educational program for our children, the Matzah Bakery is a small projection of the Matzah Shmurah production line since its very beginning.
The kids have the opportunity to “transform the wheat into flour”, to prepare the Matzot and even to bake it.
And the most amazing experience is to see the kids going home by the end of the day, with their own Matzah in hands, a big smile stamped on the face, and one more step towards a happy Jewish life in their hearts.

Purim party this year had as theme Cuba. The Cuban athmosphere was impregnated everywhere and could be seen in the beautiful "Mojitos" that were served in the party.
Cuban music, raffles, dance, costume contest and of course, much L'chaim (this one, in Chabad Cyprus' style) toke part in our Purim.

Friends of Chabad of Cyprus in Israel
Friends of Chabad of Cyprus in Israel gathered on its 3rd annual event at Beit Hachayal Halls - Tel Aviv, and the results were much above than the expected.
The crowd of more than 300 friends from all sorts and kinds enjoyed good traditional Jewish and Greek music by Shimon Parnass and his band, a rich and selected buffet, listened to the talks of the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yona Metzger and the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus, Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin.
The beautiful evening was closed with a touching multimedia presentation which reports the 5 years of existence of Chabad in Cyprus.
The crowd of more than 300 friends from all sorts and kinds enjoyed good traditional Jewish and Greek music by Shimon Parnass and his band, a rich and selected buffet, listened to the talks of the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yona Metzger and the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus, Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin.

Representatives from the Cypriot government, ambassadors, members of the EU parliament and of the Cypriot municipalities and chiefs of the police were among the hundreds who've honored the event in Larnaca.
The ceremony had speeches from the under secretary to the president Demetris Christofias Dr. Titos Christofides, from the Ambassador of Israel in Cyprus, and from the Member of the Israeli Parliament Mr. Reuven Rivlin.
Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin was privileged with the kindling of the Menorah.
Public Menorah's were erected in Larnaca, Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca Airport.
Hundreds of guests have passed by CJCC along the holiday to prestige the Menorah lighting every evening.

Mrs. Prasad pointed out on her speech the Chabad activities worldwide and specially in India, saying that “There are no words to express the merit of Chabad Lubavitch Movement around the world.”
Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin taught the attendees “Mishanyos” in memory of the Holy Shluchim Rabbi Gavriel Noach and Mrs. Rivkah Holtzberg HY’’D.
