In a modest yet uplifting ceremony, another Mikvah Taharah was inaugurated in Limassol, Cyprus, marking a significant step in strengthening Taharah and Kedushah in the region.

This mikvah, built in honour of and through the generosity of Mrs. Tamara Berger and her family, is located in the Ayios Tychonas neighbourhood. The inauguration coincided with the 10-year anniversary of Chabad of Limassol, celebrating the ongoing growth of the local Jewish community under the dedicated leadership of the Shliach, Rabbi Yair Baitz, and his wife.

The event commenced with words of blessing and inspiration from Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin, Head Shliach and Chief Rabbi of Cyprus, who spoke about the ever-expanding presence of Torah and Mitzvot among the Jews of Cyprus. He noted that this mikvah, likely the first ever built in Limassol, is expected to be a precursor to many more that will enhance Jewish life across the city. It joins the other mikvahs throughout Cyprus, serving both local Jewish families and visitors, in accordance with the Rebbe’s vision of ensuring every Jewish community has access to a mikvah.

The mezuzah was affixed with great joy by Rabbi Baitz together with his father-in-law, Rabbi Baruch Boaz Yurkovitz, Chief Rabbi of Chabad Lod and Head of the Beis Din "Heichal Lubavitch." They were joined by Rabbi Raskin and Rabbi Yurkovitz, who affixed additional mezuzos on the main entrance doors of the mikvah. The celebration concluded with a spirited Seudat Mitzvah, filled with Chassidic warmth, song, and inspiration.

It is important to note that all mikvahs in Cyprus, including new constructions, operate under the highest halachic standards, under the strict supervision of the Beis Din of Cyprus, led by Rabbi Raskin. Additionally, ongoing shiurim and classes on the laws of Taharas HaMishpacha are provided to ensure continued growth in knowledge and observance.

The establishment of this mikvah is a historic milestone, further strengthening the foundation of Yiddishkeit in Cyprus, bringing purity, Kedushah, and connection to generations to come.
