The High Holidays were once again celebrated with much splendor and happiness. Seeing all of our friends and members of the community come together to celebrate each holiday gave us a great feeling of oneness and joy.
Hundreds of families of the Jewish community of Cyprus in Limassol, including public figures and VIPs were celebrating, Sunday a completion of a new Torah scroll (holy bible). A special plane, with many guests, officials and supporters of the community arrived Sunday morning from Israel to Cyprus, to participate in the special ceremony. The completion of the Torah scroll, a first ever event for the city of Limassol. The scroll was written in memory of the Israeli fallen soldiers, in the operation "Tzuk Eitan". Participants celebrated the day long event, which began in the city of Larnaca, visiting the central synagogue. Followed by a visit to the Achna Campus and the Xylotymbou Memorial park
n a day of dedication and celebration, a Torah scroll was ceremoniously completed and inducted for ritual use by the Cyprus Jewish Community in Larnaca.
The scroll was dedicated in a formal ceremony; followed by a processional, with live music and dancing.
This scroll—which contains over 304,000 individually hand-written letters is a fitting addition to the Cyprus Jewish Community center as it represents the unbroken chain of Jewish tradition and survival.

Today groups of students visited our community center in Larnaca.
The students are following Religious studies and were very keen to hear about Jewish history in Cyprus and current Jewish life on the island.
Rabbi Raskin spoke of the long and intertwined history between our nations; that dates back thousands of years.
