Cyprus welcomed its first medical lending centre on the 9th of January 2023
One of the biggest challenges faced by many communities across Europe during
COVID was the severe shortage of medical equipment for community members
who were discharged from hospitalisation and were recuperating at home due to
pandemic restrictions.
Each Chesed centre is brought to you by the charity, Friendship Circle Cyprus, and
the Jewish Community of Cyprus, and includes over 300 items, including oxygen
generators, wheelchairs, bathing chairs, crutches, rollers, pumps, cots, TENS
devices, blood pressure monitors, and dozens more.
The centres will provide a maintenance service for the preservation, sterilization
and repair of non-perishable medical equipment and accessories. It will also
manage a logistical system for the distribution and collection of the equipment and
accessories to and in the homes of people in need.
Services are available to all citizens and visitors in Cyprus. Our plan is to expand
across the island, opening centres in Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos and Ayia Napa.
